The Catholic Mom’s Group Cookbook

The Catholic Mom’s group is looking to put together a parish cookbook. From easy quick meals to cultural favourites, we want them all. We will put them all together in a collection that is easy to ready and will become a family keepsake for years to come. We are especially looking to create a section to highlight our sacramental seasons i.e. Lent, Easter, Advent, Pentecost, and Feast days. There will be a collection box at the Welcome Table starting Saturday January 27th. Don’t delay.

Faith Formation: Symbolon, the Catholic Faith explained

As part of our Thursday Program on Spiritual Teaching, Study and Growth, we invite you to join us on 9th May for the 9th episode of Symbolon: Mary & the Saints: Our Mother & the Communion of Saints.

What do we think of Mary, the Mother of Jesus, and how does our relationship with her impact our relationship with her Son? What is the connection between our understanding of Mary and the rest of the saints? Why do we ask Mary and other “dead people” to pray for us? The answers to these questions serve to give us a framework for the Catholic Church’s teachings on life after death and what we call “The Communion of the Saints.”

It is a systematic presentation of our Catholic Faith. It will lead you through the “big picture” of the Catholic Faith and our Creed is the guide. Symbolon brings together some of the most trusted Catholic teachers in the world to guide you through the breadth and richness of the Catholic faith.

Movie Night: The Story of St. Anthony Mary Claret

On 25 January at 7 pm we will show the movie on the story of St. Anthony Mary Claret.
Set in Spain in the 1800s, this dramatic feature film tells the compelling story of St. Anthony Mary Claret, an Archbishop, writer, publisher, social reformer, missionary, and confessor to the Queen of Spain. Claret, one of Spain’s most popular preachers, founded the religious congregation of the Missionary Sons of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, known as the Claretians.

Regarded as the “spiritual father of Cuba” due to his zealous missionary work there, Claret’s apostolic work also took him to the Canary Islands, Madrid, Paris, and the First Vatican Council. Before the priesthood, he was a professional weaver in the textile mills of Barcelona. After being ordained, he spent 10 years giving popular missions and retreats, always placing great emphasis on the Eucharist and devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The Rosary was never out of his hand.
