It is the largest national organization of Catholic women and seeks to unite Catholic women as a community striving for spiritual, cultural and intellectual growth, and the development of social action.<\/p>\n<p>St. Leo\u2019s Council was organized in February of 2010.<\/p>\n<p>The patroness of the League is the Blessed Virgin Mary under the title of Our Lady of Good Counsel.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mission Statement<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Catholic Women\u2019s League of Canada calls its members to grow in faith, and to witness to the love of God through ministry and service.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Who We Are<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We are the voice of Catholic women united in faith, promoting Christian values in the home and In the world.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What We Offer<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We offer hospitality, friendship, sisterhood, support and affirmation that empowers women to reach their full potential.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What We Do<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We provide faith based opportunities for spiritual growth, leadership development and many avenues for service, advocacy and social justice.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why We Do It<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As Catholic women, we are empowered by the Spirit to renew our commitment to the call to holiness through service to the people of God, one in heart, voice and missions as we work to strengthen family values, create sanctuaries of peace and be the Good News to all.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Objects of the League<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>To achieve individual and collective spiritual development<\/li>\n<li>To promote the teachings of the Catholic church<\/li>\n<li>To exemplify the Christian ideal in home and family life<\/li>\n<li>To protect the sanctity of human life<\/li>\n<li>To enhance the role of women in church and society<\/li>\n<li>To recognize the human dignity of all people everywhere<\/li>\n<li>To uphold and defend Christian education and values in the modern world<\/li>\n<li>To contribute to the understanding and growth of religious freedom, social justice, peace and harmony<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Annual donations made by St. Leo the Great C.W.L. in support of the objects of the League:<\/p>\n<p>S<strong>piritual<\/strong> Development \u2013 Catholic Mom\u2019s Group, Rosary Apostolate, Catholic Women\u2019s Leadership Foundation, Women\u2019s Inter Church Council of Canada<\/p>\n<p><strong>Teachings of the Catholic Church \u2013 <\/strong>Children\u2019s Liturgy, graduation gifts for our schools, First Communion and Confirmation gifts to students, Shepherd\u2019s Trust, Bishop Pappin Memorial Fund<\/p>\n<p><strong>Christian Ideal in home and family life \u2013 <\/strong>Catholic Family Charities<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sanctity of Life<\/strong> \u2013 Rose of Durham,\u00a0 , Hope or Children, Homeless, Refugees, Grandview Children\u2019s Centre, Chalice (Foster child), Euthanasia Coalition, Children\u2019s Wish Foundation, Canadian Food for Children, Sleeping Children Around the World, Pro Life Durham<\/p>\n<p><strong>Enhancing<\/strong> <strong>the role of women in church and society<\/strong> \u2013 Women\u2019s Inter Church Council of Canada, Catholic Women\u2019s Leadership Foundation, National Bursary Fund<\/p>\n<p><strong>To recognize the human dignity of all people everywhere \u2013 <\/strong>Hospice Durham, St. Vincent de Paul, Coady International Fund, Denise House, The Poppy Fund<\/p>\n<p><strong>To uphold and defend Christian education and values in the modern world \u2013<\/strong>Catholic Mom\u2019s Group, Durham Catholic Children\u2019s Foundation, St. Mike\u2019s Scholarship Fund.<\/p>\n<p><strong>To contribute to the understanding and growth of religious freedom, social justice, peace and harmony \u2013 <\/strong>Velma\u2019s Dream, Coady International Fund, Development &amp; Peace, Catholic Missions in Canada<\/p>\n<p><strong>League Prayer<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>We humbly pray You, O GOD our Father, to bless the Catholic Women\u2019s League of Canada.
