The Dawn of Grace:
An Advent Retreat (Dec. 18, 2021)
(Lk 2:22-38; Ecclesiastes 3; Song of Songs 2:8-13)
Synopsis: When Mary and Joseph presented the infant Jesus at the Temple, the Holy Spirit revealed to Simeon and Anna that the light of salvation has indeed come to Israel and the nations. The coming of Christ into the world gives hope to the deepest desires of the human heart for purpose and love. This reflection will begin with the Presentation at the Temple as a point of departure. Then we will reflect on the ancient wisdom book of Ecclesiastes where the seeker yearns for meaning beyond worldly success, always cast in the gloomy shadow of death. Finally, we will turn to the Song of Songs, where hope turns into a true desire to be united to our “Sweet Saviour.” We come to adore the One who heralds “the dawn of grace.”
